Yes. Taximeters charge either distance traveled or elapsed time. When traveling more than 12mph, the meter charges based on distance. When traveling less than 12mph, such as in bad traffic, the meter charges based on time. See our meter rates here.

Only if you request an SUV, Limo, or other upgraded vehicle. If you request a taxi and an SUV shows up, you’ll pay the regular taxi rate. See our meter rates here.

All our taxis are equipped with cameras and are required to be always in use. The cameras are used strictly for driver and passenger safety.

First, Charley’s Taxi does not surge price. When the TNCs surge price, rides can easily cost 3-5x what a taxi would cost. You can count on our rates to be the same day to day.

Second, Uber and Lyft (TNCs) are cheaper only if you choose a compact car.

Our fleet is comprised largely of late model minivans and our rates are generally comparable to TNCs’ “XL” rates (mostly minivans).

Unlike the TNCs, we provide extensive training to our drivers. We also support our drivers like no one else. That includes a 24-hour dispatch center, 2-way radios, and HD cameras. For more information about all that we do, please visit our About Us page.

No. We accept cash and credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover, JCB) as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay.

You can request a taxi on-demand (right now) or make an advance reservation. We are busiest from 9:00 am to 11:30 am and from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. We recommend making a reservation for pick-ups during these times to avoid delayed pick-ups.

Don’t worry. If you booked our VIP or Priority service, your assigned driver will track your flight.

If you booked our economical flat rate transfer, we’re standing by until you let us know you’re ready to meet your taxi via our handy Arrival Portal.

Though this can vary considerably with traffic, a typical ride between Waikiki and the airport takes about a half hour.

Please enter your anticipated arrival time.

If you booked our VIP or Priority service, your assigned driver will track your flight. If you booked our economical flat rate transfer, we’re standing by until you let us know you’re ready to meet your taxi via our handy Arrival Portal.

Our pre-arranged service is restricted to the bag claim (ground) level. Please go down to the ground level and enter the first bag claim number you see so we may direct you to the nearest pick-up area.

We recommend arriving at the airport 2 hours prior to domestic flights and 3 hours prior to international flights to account for traffic delays and long lines for agriculture screening, flight and baggage check-in, and TSA security. During slow times you may breeze through all of those, but when it gets busy you’ll be glad you got there so early.

Charley’s Taxi is not responsible for missed flights.

If you need a ride from Oahu’s “outlying areas,” which we define as the Windward side, west of the Airport, and east of Aina Haina, we will contact you by phone to collect a partial prepayment because we get a lot of prank calls and no shows. The prepaid amount will be credited to your final fare.

This partial prepayment becomes non-refundable when the driver is dispatched to your pick-up.

For rides where pick-up and drop-off are in Oahu’s “outlying areas,” which we define as the Windward side, west of the Airport, and east of Aina Haina, we will contact you by phone to collect:

  1. A non-refundable deadhead fee to be paid in addition to the fare. This fee covers the deadhead (empty) miles driven.
  2. Partial prepayment of the estimated fare for your ride. We do this because we get a lot of prank calls and no shows. This partial prepayment becomes non-refundable when the driver is dispatched to your pick-up. The prepaid amount will be credited to your final fare.
