GOLFING
The array of golfing choices in combination with warm weather and gentle tradewinds make for constant fun and challenges to golfers. Here in the islands, golf is played year round on some of the most spectacular courses in the world. For tropical golf in a secluded mountain/jungle setting the webmaster suggests Luana Hills or the pristine challenge of Ko Olina. Both are open to the public, and you can make it to your tee time with Charley’s. See the list of Places and Phone Numbers to make your own reservations for a number of golf courses on the island.
TENNIS
Public tennis courts are free at Kapi´olani Park and Ala Moana Park. Tennis lessons at the Hale Koa tennis courts (Saratoga & Kalia behind Kalakaua Avenue) are available every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8:30 a.m. Cost is $8 per 90-minute lesson. You don’t have to be military. You can play in the Tournaments arranged by the pro.
ATHLETIC EVENTS
Runs and Marathons, Triathalons, Biathalons, Body Building, Canoe Races, Biking, Hiking, Rodeo, Tennis, Sailing, Surfing…whatever your level and interest, Hawai´i has it! These events are mostly within 10-15 minutes from Waikiki.
